Private Residence, Christmas Lake
Shorewood, Minnesota
The residence located on Christmas Lake in Shorewood was originally designed for the current homeowner’s family as a summer residence by Edwin Lundie in 1942. The family so enjoyed the the summers in their home that they moved into the residence year-round. The design of the existing Lundie home and its details directed the construction of the additions to and remodeling of the residence. A Great Room with mezzanine Library above was added on the south side of the original Living Room, extending the gabled form with its pattern of dormers and box windows. A new Garage was added to the west end of the home with a breezeway link that contains a Mudroom and Home Office. Much of the new construction and remodeling required highly customized windows, doors, hardware and finishes to retain the character of the original Lundie home.
